Ethos Discovery needs your help to develop new tests and treatments for sepsis in dogs.
STUDY OBJECTIVE
The severe systemic inflammatory response that develops in septic patients is the main complication contributing to its high mortality rate. Ethos Discovery is working on developing new tests and treatments for sepsis that target this inflammatory process. Such tests and treatments will improve patient outcomes for septic pets and humans alike! Despite years of active research in the field, high mortality rates associated with sepsis have remained unchanged over the last three decades; we aim to change this!
To achieve this goal, Ethos Discovery is interested in collecting blood samples from dogs with and without sepsis for genomic analysis. This will allow us to see if a genetic target could be used in the development of these new tests and treatments. If identified, future trials will further investigate the clinical value of that target.
WHAT TO EXPECT
All that is required is a physical exam and a single blood sample.
Your veterinarian will rate your pet’s APPLE illness severity score.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE
Any dog with a septic abdomen over 5 kg (11lb).
Any generally healthy dog over 5 kg (11 lb).
