About

Dr. Carrie Deaton originally grew up in Kentucky and graduated from Oberlin College before moving west. She worked as a veterinary technician, both general practice and emergency, prior to veterinary school. She graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis in 2009. After school, she completed an internship for advanced training in emergency and critical care. She was a staff clinician and then Emergency Service Lead at the Pet Emergency and Specialty Center in San Diego for many years. After working relief at different hospitals, she was thrilled to be able to join the VSH North County Team!

Her special interests include pain management, trauma, and toxicities. She loves to teach and is dedicated to training the next generation of doctors in the joys of ER.

She lives with an extremely tolerant partner, two kids that refuse to stop growing and a pack of dogs all named after foods. She has a very intense love of caffeine and brunch, loves to bake, and will read anything she can get her hands on.
